If you are like most bloggers then you want your blog to make big bucks. The only way to do that is to get a lot of traffic to your blog. One way to get a lot of traffic to your blog is to harness the power of social media. Social media is sites like Twitter, Facebook, and Pinterest. People spend a lot of time on there and love to share things with their friends. If you can make your blog go viral on one of these sites, than you have got it made.
What does going viral mean? That means that your blog post is being shared organically. You did not pay a bunch of people to spread it around. Rather, someone found your blog post and liked it so much that they decided to share it with their friends. Those friends liked it so much that they decided to share it with their friends and so on, forming a long chain of shares and greatly spreading your blog’s sphere of influence. This is the ideal method to get more readers. Not only are they more engaged because they have been personally recommended to read your blog, but they are also more likely to make you money because they should be in some way connected to whatever it is you are making money with.
Now, getting a blog post to go viral is not easy. You have to meet a few requirements. But there are three tips that can help you to make it more likely to be picked up and spread around.
Make it outrageous
If you can grab people’s attention, they are more likely to stop long enough to read your post. In order to get their attention, you have to stand out. Standing out usually means one thing: being weird. If you can write something weird, unusual, and oddball, odd enough to get noticed, then you have a chance. It can be anything from the tabloid-like claims of Turtle Boy and his shell removal operation to dogs that climb trees. Whatever you choose, make it pop.
Celebrities
Celebrities are always a hot topic. If you can cash in on the latest gossip and scandal in a new way, then you have a chance of getting your blog passed around or linked. People love to spread rumors about their favorite celebrities, so you always have a shot with this one.
Images
A picture is worth a thousand words. You know that is true, especially when it comes to a social media site like Pinterest. All photo based, a great image here can get you spread worldwide in a matter of minutes. Whether it is outrageous, cool, bright, beautiful, or funny, a photo that complements your blog post and snaps on Pinterest is a combo well worth working on.
These three concepts are just the tip of the iceberg. There are tons more ways to get your blog posts to go viral on social media. But the most important step is to have great content. If your site is nothing but junk, it will not matter how many people you bring in because they will not stick around. Make sure your site is good before you attempt to go viral. But once you hit that goldmine, you can sit back and watch in amazement as the readers pour in.
