Blogging has been made easier with the tools available to create a free web site. Many people start a blog with an intention to monetize it. There are several ways to make money through a blog. The most common include monetizing through affiliate programs and participating in publishing networks. Many of you would know that the value of the blog is what determines the revenue stream. Most personal bloggers are stuck with the idea that writing great content is the only way to add value to the blog. While writing great content is still important, and gives a strong base to the blog, it won’t have a huge impact on value.
If writing great content isn’t enough, then what should you do? Here are some practical ways to add value to your blog.
1. Market your content
Content marketing is now important than ever. Yes, you can write great content on the blog, but it won’t reach a large number of readers unless you market it. There are several ways to market your content (social media, press releases etc.), and you also have the option to take content marketing services. A great blog post will add little value if it gets a limited number of readers.
2. Get social
You’re likely to integrate Twitter, Facebook, Pinterest and other social media pages on your blog. Sharing your posts on these pages alone won’t get the job done. You need to ‘get social’ with your followers. Try to reduce your response time on these pages. Make conversations, and engage with your followers. Also look into social bookmarking sites like Reddit and Delicious.
3. Make connections
There is someone out there who would be blogging on the same niche as you. Make connections with people who blog in the same niche as you do. Offer help and refer to their posts if they are helpful. Apart from making connections with bloggers in your own niche, it’s important that you make connections outside your niche as well. The more connections you make, the more chances of your blog being referred within and outside your niche. This is going to increase the blog’s value overtime.
4. Show yourself as a brand
Brands are now being given the most value. Search engines have also started to favor brands (yes, you have to follow the rules). To show your blog as a brand, you need to increase the page authority of your blog. By increasing the page authority, your blog will be a brand in the eyes of the readers as well as the search engines.
5. Go offline
Consider this as your secret weapon. Your efforts offline can greatly add value to your blog. Tell your colleagues that you have a blog. If you offer services such as content creation, print pamphlets and brochures, and distribute them to various companies.
Through these tips, you would be able to increase the value of your blog. To ensure that you’re able to maintain your blog overtime, keep adding value. You’ll automatically receive offers from networks, affiliate marketers, advertisers and the likes.

For instance, is there a minimum number of followers that you need to have, before companies will accept you?

Having a lot of followers is actually really beneficial? It does not have any benefit unless followers are active and real targeted.As far as I know, you don’t need a minimum number of followers.
