The term ‘blog’ is a hybrid word, which is a compilation of two words namely – web and log. It is a quasi web site or can be a part of web site. This genre started to spread through internet during 1999. With the advent of web technology appreciation to reading and exchanging of information has been considerably changed. Blogs can be categorized in two types – personal and commercial blogs. Most blogs are interactive, which means followers can exchange their point of views with blogger. It is maintained chronically. Bloggers can create blog on any topic, such as s/he can write on current affairs, personal experience, travelling, foods etc.
Blogging is an interactive way. There are many blogging sites on internet those offers free blogging. One of the famous free blogging sites in bloggers.com. Today you can earn money out of writing blogs. There are some sites like About.com, BlogFeast, BLOGGERWAVE, that pay you per post you write. Most blogging sites have some common areas. There is a main content area with a column where your articles are listed chronically and a space where your readers can leave comments on your article. Here I am going to discuss on some important topics that would be useful while you are blogging.
How to choose a topic
It is the most important part of blogging. Before start blogging you have to choose a niche. People do not pay much attention in personal blogs. Blogging has some commercial aspects in it. You should keep it in your mind that successful blogging can bring a flow of money in your life, it can help you to earn money. A blogger should choose an interesting topic that people want to read about. But you should also consider your interest on the particular subject. Think how much you can write on the topic. If you have enough information on the topic and can write on it for 12 months then this can be a good niche for you, otherwise think about something else. An interesting topic always increases the flow of traffic to your blog or site. A blogger must search for the burning issues and trends; in order to do this he should follow TV, news papers and magazines.
Will your blog generate money?
You can earn money out of blogging. Try to add program like AdSense and Infolinks. These programs will place some advertises in your page related to your topic. If the person who is visiting your blog clicks on the ads, you will get some percentage. RSS advertising is another way to earn money. To earn money you can start with business writing and promotional writing. Always write in a way that your blog could rank high in major search engines like Google, Yahoo etc.
Build your own business
With the help of your blog you can build your own business. Today many people are selling things such as software, e-books, and even utility goods through their blogs.

WordPress and bloggger are the very best blogs platform. Most of the people are using a wordpress. It’s has so many plugin like All in seo pack, SEO Yuast, Etc. These are all useful to visibility for search engines, Thanks for giving a best information about blogs.
I say the same thing for the most part, self hosted WordPress has most options. If you have to free blog, WordPress.com isn’t flexible with Javascript and such and can’t use many programs. Blogspot though is more flexible and I think I read you can use Amazon affiliate banners on Blogspot.

Great post Suresh, but carefully selected niche and keywords can definitely earn you money and especially you need to keey yourself away from most competitive niche.
BloggerWave? I haven’t had an offer them in the 2 years I signed up. The ones that are more reliable would be SocialSpark, PayPerPost, ReviewMe, SponsoredReviews, BlogsVertise and PayU2Blog if you want to be paid to do blog reviews or write posts and put links in them. Average is about $5-$10 per post with most of the services and all except SocialSpark prefer a higher rank PR = more opps. SocialSpark ties into your Google Analytics and here traffic = opps since they see the site traffic and all links are dofollow anyway.

It’s all about WordPress. Blogger/blogspot is only great for beginners that never see themselves owning their own domain or profiting from their blog, IMO.
